Koko | Fierce Cult | Interview

Bandcover

Hello „Koko“ from Fierce Cult.  My name is Tobi.  I run a Facebook page and a webblog.  On this page I post reviews of current albums, interviews, band presentations and reports about concerts that I visit with my wheelchair.  On the one hand, to tell other wheelchair users how the venue is equipped in terms of accessibility and on the other hand, how to best proceed to get tickets, which is usually not possible with conventional ticket portals.

In the future I will also write about hygiene measures, as this is important for me as a high-risk patient and for my readers too. Of course, I also write about the bands‘ performance.  Today I have a few questions for you about your upcoming Album „Where Humanity Ends“.

Tobi – Koko

First of all, I want to ask you, how are you doing right now?

Excited, anxious, exhausted at the same time hehehehe the last couple of months it has been a lot of work for us.

Would you please tell my Followers about „Fierce Cult“ and introduce you plus the Musicians behind the Band?

Fierce Cult is:

Koko | Vocals/Guitars
Jorge Molano | Drums
David Rivilla | Guitars
Fernando Barrio | Bass

Fierce Cult is a death/thrash metal band from Spain and our only goal is to play and create the most aggressive and brutal music we can.

How happy are you that the album will be released on 1st of October and the World can hear your third Album?

Well I have to stop you in there, this is not our third album, this is our first album, the drummer and mysef were members of a previous band called THE SEED and yes we released a couple of albums as THE SEED, but Fierce Cult is a whole new concept and this is our debut album as Fierce Cult. But no problem I understand the confussion.

Well we are really excited, it has been a lot of work for a lot of time to get to where we are right now, and it feels almost ubelievable that it finally is going to happen, so yes, we are really looking forward to it.

Fierce Cult New Album, The Studio Sessions

How about the Hard Times you had, before releasing „WHE“?

Yeah, it has been really tough, we have been almost through any kind of difficulty that any band could have, but we endured and we have also grown stronger with every problem we have faced. So now we are stronger than ever and ready for anything

What can Metalheads except from your new Longplayer?

As our first album I think it really is an inttentions claim, we want to show Metalheads that this is uncompromissed music direct from our guts, not following trends just making the music we love in the way we love to do it.

What´s the main Message you wanna tell with your (i changed it to) first 😉 Album?

More or less what I answered in the previous question, with our first album we want to show that we do the music we are passioned about, with no creative limitations just pure fuckin‘ metal. \m/ heheheh

„Bite The Hand“ was the first Single you released so far. Will there one or two more to come?

Just we are planning to release a couple more singles, but I can’t really tell you about it right now. Top Secret stuff hehhehe

Could you tell my Followers in a short sentence about each Song and what you wanna tell Mankind in every Song?

The Beginning

Just album intro, perfect for Live shows Intro, we always wanted to write Intro and outro for an album (THE SEED days) but deadlines always being short of time for everything, made it impossible.

One Shot, One Death

Open track of the album I think that in a musical level this track really is declaration on intent, inspired in the more than regular mass shooting crimes in the US, and how the oppressive and cynical politics of the extreme capitalism breed this kind of events

Share My Death

Social Networks fuckin suck, really hate those social network posers all over the world that have created this network of isolation and lies

Choose Your Gun

Based on celebrities committing suicide, and after their death finding out that their perfect lives were actually full of misery and sorrow

Anger

This one of the first songs written for the album just after THE SEED split out represents the frustration and Anger we were experiencing by the time.

Broken Glass

This one is internally called the “ballad” or “love song”, hehehehe, I think its pretty obvious.

Where Humanity Ends

Album title track, fully represents the concept of the album, greed, selfishness, human extinction getting closer every day.

Feed On Fear

One of my favorite riffs of the album at least one of the most fun to play, heavy midtempo track, a classic headbanging for sure

Bite The Hand

Mankind is killing the planet, we should stop biting the hand that feeds us

There’s Something in My Dreams

Lyrics based in the movie Borgman by Alex van Warmerdam

Blood

First song we wrote for the album, it represents the sound transition we took from THE SEED to Fierce Cult

The End (Outro)

You have no Label, what is unbelievable in my Opinion. Do you have a clue what ist he Reason that they don’t wan´t to have you.

We had proposlas from labels, but the SAOL working shceme really agreed of what we think of music industry, actually their porposal in terms was the same as the proposals we had from labels but with more control for the band, so SAOL is our label. I guess we are just dreamers that still think that the final decission of what makes it or not is still in the fans, we’ll see how it goes…

You are going on tour with this album, how much are you looking forward to it?

We’d really love to. We are a live band our main strength and what we most enjoy is the live shows and the direct interaction with the fans that comes from it, but unfortunately this our hard times for bands like us promoters are not really open to new acts and the COVID situation has just made this worse.

How are your plans for the near future of „Fierce Cult“?

Keep growing, keep improving in every way every day and just keep doing the most aggressive metal music we can.

Fierce Cult – Bite The Hand (OFFICIAL VIDEO)

If you could choose a Festival to play with „Fierce Cult“, which would you choose and why?

Well I think that there two festivals that every metal band would dream to play, Hellfest and Wacken, the reason is simple, because everyone is in there hahahaha

Have you ever played in Germany before?

Yes, back in the The Seed days

How many energy do you need for one Show with this absolute high energy and thundering Thrash/Death Metal?

We put everything we got in every show, no reason for saving energy during a show, that is what Fierce Cult its all about

What do you think we will be able to go to bigger events „more carefree“ again in 2022?

Well is a difficult question, I really hope show, but COVID is not a matter of europe and the states, is a world wide problem, everybody needs to be safe  not only the first world countries. I think that the richer countries should make a bigger effort on helping third world countries with the pandemic.

What was the best Album released in 2021 so far in your opinion – except yours of course?

In my opinion Cannibal Corpse’s – Violence Unimagined, but any way I’m a Cannibal Corpse freak so I can’t be really objective hehehe

What Band or Musiscian did influenced you most in your musicial live?

Many bands, but if there is an album that really pulled that triggered in my head to start playing the guitar at first place was Pantera’s – Vulgar Display of Power, I still remember the feeling the first time I heard the first guitar riff for Mouth for War, I was really blown away by everything, Dimebag was a real guitar god, and I dont think that there would never be a guitar player like him, just unique

Which Album was your first Metal Album bought of your own money, and why?

Actually before I bought my first album I had a huge collection of recorded casettes from friends or even from songs I heard on the radio as a kid, but the first album I ever bought was Sepultura – Roots, I have been saving money to buy Chaos A.D. because my cassette was so used that almost half of the album was unplayable so I went to a record store with the money I’ve been saving for months and when I got there Sepultura had just released Roots so I bought Roots instead, one of the best decissions I’ve ever made in my life.

Get away from the music a little. What about hobbies?

Well my passion is music in any form, so it really takes almost 100% of my time, but Im also really into cinema and literature, so when I have a little bit of free time I try to watch a movies or do some reading.

Real or Atletico? 😉

Oh the big question, and the answer would be none hahahahha, Im not really into football but I can tell that David is a diehard Atletico fan and Molano supports Barcelona, so sorry but no Real Madrid supporters in here.

If you got one wish…

If I could I would erase this COVID pandemic from our lives as it had never happened and bring back all the people we have lost in the pandemic

A few words to your Fans out there in Germany and all the Others in the World?

Thanks for the interview, Koko from Fierce Cult. Many greetings to all of the Band.  Something that is important to me: Stay healthy and be safe!

Thanks for your support Tobias we really dig the purpose of your blog, we think that is really important to make music and culture accessible to everyone, and we hope for a future with no barriers to culture in any form.

Horns Up !!!
