„Crimson Fire im Interview“

Formed in 2004, Crimson Fire from Athens, Greece, started as a traditional heavy metal band releasing their debut album „Metal Is Back“ in 2010. Sharing the stage with bands like Tokyo Blade, Elixir, Heir Apparent, Uli Jon Roth, Demon, Anvil and many others, CRIMSON FIRE built the name of a live act that set the stage on fire. They kept the fire burning with the second album „Fireborn“ (2016) and more live shows followed, including an appearance at Trveheim Festival in 2018 along with Q5, Satan and Praying Mantis among others. Honing their craft through a steady line-up and rigorous work ethics, the band promises a third album that oozes songwriting maturity and focus while delivering a more melodic and hard n’ heavy evolution of their trademark sound. Recordings and mixing of „Another Dimension“ were carried out at Zero Gravity Studios by Terry Nikas (Septicflesh, Suicidal Angels, Scar Of The Sun, Nightrage).

It was produced by guitarist Stelios Koutelis and mastered by Psychon Nyne (Septicflesh). The artwork was designed by Andreas Marschall (Blind Guardian, HammerFall, Gamma Ray, Kreator, Sodom etc.). A new chapter in the story of Cimson Fire, recommended for fans of Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Riot, Europe and 80s hard n‘ heavy! (Quelle: Presseinfo Sure Shot Worx)

Tobi – Metal and Me

Stelios – Crimson Fire

Hello Stelios from „Crimson Fire“.  My name is Tobi.  I run a Facebook page and a web blog.  On this page I post reviews of current albums, interviews, band presentations and reports about concerts that I visit with my wheelchair.  On the one hand, to tell other wheelchair users how the venue is equipped in terms of accessibility and on the other hand, how to best proceed to get tickets, which is usually not possible with conventional ticket portals.

In the future I will also write about hygiene measures, as this is important for me as a high-risk patient and for my readers too. Of course, I also write about the bands‘ performance.  Today I have a few questions for you about your new Album „Another Dimension“.

First of all, I want to ask you, how are you and your Bandmates doing right now?

We are all OK considering the tough year we musicians had and the fire crisis in Greece. Thank you for asking.

What can we expect from your third Album „Another Dimension“?

You can expect a different musical journey! „Another Dimension“ is a portal to adolescent years and nostalgic emotions. We decided to write new songs based on our collective musical upbringing and the outcome is more than satisfactory. In this album we also worked with top people of the industry, like the legendary Andreas Marschall, who did the cover artwork, Terry Nikas (Scar of the Sun, Suicidal Angels) who did the mix and Psycon Nyne (Septic Flesh), who did the mastering. All in all it will be a powerful experience that conjures many different feelings.

What did you do in this five years of „Pause“ between your Albums „Fireborn“ and „Another Dimension“?

We were quite busy with giging for „Fireborn“ the first couple of years, playing shows in Germany (Trveheim) and Greece (for example supporting Cloven Hoof). We had also booked a festival in Crete (Over the Wall) but the COVID pandemic changed our plans. In 2018 we started working on the material for „Another Dimension“ in tandem.

„Judas“ was the first single to release from your new Studioalbum.  Why this Song and are there songs to follow, perhaps as Video too?

We felt like „Judas“ was the perfect candidate to represent the new album in terms of sound and atmosphere. Plus, to our ears, it sounds like a hit song. We have plans to do another three videos for the new album. Perhaps we will do another lyric video and a couple videoclips. We will talk about it and decide what the best course of action will be.

What is the main difference between „Another Dimension“ and your last Release „Fireborn“?

„Fireborn“ was an in-your-face album in my opinion and with „Another Dimension“ we wanted to do something different. We decided to experiment with syhnthesizers and keyboards and we took our time honing the songs and sound to perfection. I would say the main difference in „Another Dimension“ is the plurality of tempos and the overall atmosphere.

A favorite track of mine is „No Fear“! Do you have a song that you particularly like on „Another Dimension“?

If I had to chose one, I would say ‚Set the Night (On Fire)‘ (maybe because I wrote it lol), but I feel like all the tracks on the album are very good and deserve a proper listen and analysis. ‚No Fear‘ for example is a great song with a simple powerful riff and exciting drumming!

Can you imagine to write/sing Songs about other Things like perhaps slaying Dragons, saving Princesses, or greek Mythology?

Well, we have tried it in „Fireborn“ with the song ‚Only the Brave‘ and in „Metal is Back“ with ‚The Prophet’s Gaze‘. We don’t really write like that but we can never rule out the possibility. If inspiration hits than we will say ‚yes‘ to that. After all, Europe and Greece are full of mythologicaly fertile themes and stories.

„Judas“ – Official Lyric Video

A few words to the fans who definitely can’t wait to hear you live. Are there any plans about for a Tour to follow the new release?

Definitely! We have plans to do a European tour in 2022 and this time we will do our best to do as many dates as possible. Of course we will see how the pandemic will play out, but hopefully 2022 will be the year we will see our fans and friends on the road!

How did you as deal with the restrictions in the meantime?  How much does it restricted you in your working life?

It wasn’t easy for us, nor anyone for that matter, but we managed pretty well. We have our personal studio so we could work in groups of two or three people at a time. Most of the recordings were done there and I could oversee the whole process production-wise. Technology helped as well, because we could send Terry Nikas the multitracks remotely and he could work on the mix on his own before schedualing a meeting for the final corrections. Mastering was done remotely too. Unfortunately, COVID restricions meant that we couldn’t play live and the whole process of recording dragged on for more monthes that we would hope.

Is Heavy Metal and the Subgenres also a means for you to switch off everything in this hectic world, to Pause and just listen?

Definitely! With everything that is happening in the world right now we had time to listen to new stuff and deal with our own meterial as well. After all, our own lyrics are somehow focused on escaping from the burden of the world and doing what you love more in life.

What was the best Album released in 2021 so far in your opinion?

I really liked the last Night Flight Orchestra album „Aeromantic“, it is really intersting!

What Band or Musiscian did influenced you most in your musicial live?

Lots of them! I love classic 80s metal bands like Def Leppard, Iron Maiden and Motley Crue and I think the mix of both musical worlds (of USA and Europe) is what has influenced me and the band as well. As far as musicians go, I would say Randy Rhoads and Warren De Martini are my favourite guitarists. I also love Chris De Garmo, Chris Oliva and Glenn Tipton.

Which Album was your first Metal Album bought of your own money, and why?

I think it was Iron Maiden’s „Live After Death“! A friend of mine had played me the cassette and I was speachless with the energy the live had and I went and baught it straight after that.

Get away from the music a little. What about hobbies?

I like to read, mostly fantasy and epic novels. I also have a personal studio, like I said, in Athens and I do recordings and productions of various bands. I used to do sports, like football and fencing but now I have no time for that!

If you got one wish…

I wish I could take Crimson Fire to the top!

A few words to your Fans out there in Germany and all the Others in the World?

First of all, thank you for hosting this interview! To our fans we would like to say thank you for all the support and we can’t wait to see you all on the road next year! „Another Dimension“ comes out on the 27th August so we hope you like it!

Thanks for the interview, Stelios from Crimson Fire. Many greetings to all from the Band. Something that is important to me: Stay healthy and be safe! I hope Greece will get out of this raging Fire and the weather will change! My thoughts are with you and your beautyfull Country!
