Vor ca. einem Jahr veröffentlichten „Blazon Rite“ ihre EP „Dulce Bellum Inexpertis“. Am 28.05.2021 kommt ihr Debütalbum „Endless Halls Of Golden Totem“ über „Gates Of Hell Records“ als CD und LP. Ich interviewte James Kirn zum neuen Werk. Viel Spaß beim lesen des Interviews!
James Kirn – Blazon Rite
Tobi – Metal and Me
Hello James from “Blazon Rite”. My name is Tobi. I run a Facebook page and a webblog. On this page I post reviews of current albums, interviews, band presentations and reports about concerts that I visit with my wheelchair. On the one hand, to tell other wheelchair users how the venue is equipped in terms of accessibility and on the other hand, how to best proceed to get tickets, which is usually not possible with conventional ticket portals.
In the future I will also write about hygiene measures, as this is important for me as a high-risk patient and for my readers too. Of course, I also write about the bands‘ performance. Today I have a few questions for you about your new Album „Endless Halls Of Golden Totem”.
First of all, I want to ask you, how are you and your Bandmates doing right now?
We’re all doing great, Tobi ! Thanks for taking the time to interview us!
How would you explain „Blazon Rite“ to someone, that doesn’t know you?
In general, I would describe us as a Heavy Metal band to someone not so familiar with heavy music. If people wanted more specifics, I’d say we are NWOBHM mixed with Power Metal with fantasy themed lyrics.
And how are you when you think about May 28th, 2021?
Man, we are extremely excited for this album to drop. We worked really hard on this record and are just so eager to see what people think of it!
What can we expect from your new Debutalbum „Endless Halls Of Golden Totem“
People can expect polished and well thought out compositions. We give a great variety of vibes on this album and believe people will want to listen over and over. Whether its power metal, nwobhm, classic doom or epic heavy metal. We give it all!
The new tracks are energetic and powerfull. How long did you write to them and how long did it take for them to be ready for our Ears?
I’ve been writing this album for a little over a year or so and the band as a whole was learning them as I wrote them. All in all its been about a year and half.
Do you have a song that you particularly like on „Endless Halls Of Golden Totem“?
James Kirn: As the main songwriter, it’s very hard for me to pick a favorite. It would probably have to be Legends of Time and Eidolon or Put Down Your Steel (Only For The Night).
The Cover-Artwork is nice. From who was the Idea?
The idea and concept was from my mind, but without Matt Stikker being an amazing artist it would have never been realized. He really killed the art and we just hope the album lives up to its epic, next level status hahaha
From who or what do you get inspired from?
I’m just inspired by all the music I listen to! I can find something I like in almost any genre. I’m always getting inspired by different musical approaches and concepts. I’m really inspired by fantasy and DnD. And of course as always, nature.
Tell my Followers something about the awesome recording of „Endless Halls Of Golden Totem“. 😊
We tracked most of the album in my basement which was crazy and came out really much better than we could have imaginedThanks to our engineer, Richie Rabid, and some isolation booths, we really made it work! Much respect and props to our mixing and mastering Guru, Will Mellor for making it sound amazing for the final product!
A few words to the Metalheads who can’t wait to hear you live. Are there any plans about a Online Event?
No, we do not have any plans for an online event but we do have an awesome music video for “Executioner’s Woe” video that’s gonna drop on Youtube very soon!
How did you as deal with the restrictions in the meantime? How much does it restricted you in your working life?
We’ve all just been doing the best we can! Playing music, going outside and just trying to stay active. We are all still able to work our days jobs, so we’re very grateful for that!
How have you spent your Free time under Covid 19 so far?
I’ve been working most of the shutdown but besides that just playing and writing music, getting outside and doing our best to stay sane!
Is there any funny Bandstory, that you want to share with my Followers?
Nothing in particular cause we haven’t been on the road yet! Always get good stories on the road! We had a lot of fun dressing up and going nuts for our new video that’s coming out soon though!
If you could privately go to a concert in this, sorry for the expression, shitty corona pandemic, which one would it be?
That is a tough question. So many good options! Maybe a private Iron Maiden, Steely Dan, Manowar or Blind Guardian show would rule.
Is Heavy Metal and the Subgenres also a means for you to switch off everything in this hectic world, to Pause and just listen?
I would say definitely for all of us. Pop a record on, sip a beer and let everything else in life kind of fall back for a minute. Just a little escape from the neverending run around of life.
Which Subgenres do you listen to?
Power Metal, NWOBHM, Death Metal, Black, Doom, some Thrash. My tastes range pretty wide when it comes to Metal!
Get away from the music a little. What about hobbies?
Fishing, building stuff, gardening, cooking, working out and watching sports!
A few words to your Fans out there in Germany and all the Others in the World?
We hope you love the new record and take the time to rock it! One of our dreams is to come to Germany and play a fest for people! We would be so excited to get a following in Germany and Europe, in general. Such a beautiful country, it would be an honor to play over there.
Thanks for the interview, James. Many greetings to all from the Band. Something that is important to me: Stay healthy and good luck for the Release of your awesome Album!
Thanks so much, Tobias!
