Veni Domine), Andreas Johansson (u.a. Narnia, Royal Hunt, Avatarium) und Per Schelander (House of Shakira, Astrakhan, ex, Royal Hunt und Pain of Salvation). Ich bin sehr gespannt auf das Album des sehr charismatischen Schweden, der mit einer Erfahrung von mehr als 40 Alben und 35 Jahren als Vocalist im Hardrock und Metalgenre aufwarten kann.
Heute habe ich ein Interview für euch, welches ich mit Christian per Mail geführt habe.
Hello Christian. My name is Tobi. You allready know me because of my Review from „The Waymaker“ or „Northern Steel“. I run a Facebook page and a webblog. On this page I post reviews of current albums, interviews, band presentations and reports about concerts that I visit with a wheelchair. On the one hand, to tell other wheelchair users how the venue is equipped in terms of accessibility and on the other hand, how to best proceed to get tickets, which is usually not possible with conventional ticket portals. Of course, I also rate the bands‘ performance. Today I have a few questions for you about your new Album „Melodic Passion“.
But first of all, I want to ask you how are you doing right now?
Thank you Tobias. The album Melodic Passion is released and I am deeply happy to show my musical roots on this album done with pure passion.
And how are you when you think about March 26th, 2021?
This date was very special and Releasedate for the album and got so many loving messages and feedback from fans and media for the Songs and the album I have written with guitarist Stephen Carlsson.
„This Is My Love Song“ was the first single from your Debutalbum. Why this song? How was working with Svante Henryson?
This song is a dedication to my family and all people who have supported me through my 35 year Long career as musician/Vocalist/artist.
It was a big dream come true as cello is a very melancholic instrument and Svante done a tremendous arrangement. Wanting to work with Svante for Many years since I heard and saw him on tour 1990 with Yngwie J Malmsteen.
What can we expect from your new album? About wich things do you sing this Time?
You will join my musical Journey how all things started with listening to The Sweet, Rainbow, Uriah Heep, Stryper & Europe. I sing about my passion for music, to be in the music when You perform live. Also sharing different subjects What is happening around the World and how We treat each other also ups and downs in life where my Christian faith helps me guide me through life.
What is the main difference between perhaps „The Waymaker“ and „Melodic Passion“?
I have always been very focused to Keep the albums in a certain style. The Waymaker is Melodic Metal with modern elements and Melodic Passion is more retro Sound over it More 70’s and 80’s Classic hardrock over it.
The new tracks are emotional, full of love, faith and hope. How long did you write to them and how long did it take for them to sit.
Me and guitarist Stephen Carlson had a marvelous flow when We wrote all these songs in just two months between February- April 2020 and then of course it takes time to record and mix.
This album have a great live feeling and I hope I can bring this on tour later on.
Do you have a song that you particularly like on „Melodic Passion“?
I love them all but right now the song Dead or Alive is a very big favourite song for me.
Can you please tell my Followers what inspired you to Songs like „History“ or the awesome nearly eight minute Song „I Breathe“?
The song History have a classical feeling in the melody and the song deals about of how We as human beeings have learned from our history. Also one of my favourites together with I Breathe where I wanted this Led Zeppelin/Rainbow vibe and it is about my I life where I still breathe and exists and thankful for life and to my creator Who has given me the talent to make music.
A few words to the fans who definitely can’t wait to hear you live. Are there any plans about a streaming Event?
No streaming events for the moment but five different promo videos are planned for this album that hopefully can still the passion to See us live in concert.
How is it to you to stay in contact with your fans via social media in these pandemic times and to find out what the mood is like in the fans‘ camp? A personal question that you don’t have to answer, but I would like to ask it anyway: Where does your strong belief in God come from?
To connect with my fans on social media is important for me. Time is my Enemy as I have a big family and everyone needs time and I always have alot of songs in my head. My strong belief comes from my mother Who is a strong Believe and I have felt this strong spiritual connection since I was very Young and I feel called to Share this mission and vision to show God’s love Through music.
How did you as deal with the restrictions in the meantime? How much does it restricted you in your working life?
I try to Keep distance and it is a serious time We live in. One Day at a time and I work as a job coach but all coaching is done Through digital platforms.
How have you spent your time under Covid 19 so far?
As I said I Keep the distance and mostly meeting my family members and close friends.
If you could privately go to a concert in this, sorry for the expression, shitty corona year, which one would it be?
I Would love to see John Miles in concert.
My dear Olov Andersson who has produced the Melodic Passion Album together with me, gave me in 50th birthday present to see him live in Belgium June 2nd, 2021 I hope this will happen as John Miles is on my favourite list of artists I want to hear and see live.
Is Heavy Metal and the Subgenres also a means for you to switch off everything in this hectic world, to Pause and just listen? Wich Subgenres do you listen to?
I listen mostly to Classic hardrock and Metal from 1970’s and 1980’s but also New released. I love pomp rock and symphonic rock as well.
Get away from the music a little. What about hobbies?
I love doing sports padel, skiing, running, mountainbike and fishing, hiking with my wife , camping with our Caravan and spend time with family and friends.
A few words to your Fans out there in Germany and all the Others in the World?
Stay healthy, enjoy life, catch the Day. Every single Day is an adventure. God Bless You all and thanks for your support. Every CD/LP counts so I can make more music.
